“There’s a lot of online advice on measuring various things in your business, your fitness routines, you diet, etc. Most of it emphasizes benefits such as control and awareness. And it’s true – measuring anything on a regular basis does increase both. However, I want to add a benefit that comes to light less frequently: MOTIVATION.” – Marina Darlow
I’ve always believed that the best place to start is at the end!
Or, as I like to paraphrase the old saying – “If you don’t know where you are going, you are sure to end up where you don’t want to be.”
This is why I want to be sure I know my intended end result before I start any project! By knowing where I want to end up, I am able to map out the course I plan to take to get there as quickly as possible.
So, when I read Marina Darlow’s unique take on ‘Scheduling for Success’ I knew I had to share it with you! It involves ‘stinky feet’ and ‘Seinfeld wisdom’.
Marina shares “The stinky feet story”: My six-year-old doesn’t always want to get into a bath. By the end of the day she’s often too tired from cartwheeling and doorway climbing, and just wants to hop into bed and listen to her bed time story. We the parents, on the other hand, have this weird thing against stinky feet entering a bed.
One day my daughter brought home a little kit: a tooth brush, a tooth paste, a pack of dental floss, and a little plastic hourglass, designed to measure 2 minutes. Seems like our local dentist embarked on a direct marketing campaign to kindergartners.
That hourglass turned out to be a wonderful invention. Continue reading at http://www.vision-framework.com/blog/2015/8/14/stinky-feet-and-seinfeld-wisdom-measurement-as-motivation
And Attraction Master Kathy Grannes has her own take on how to ‘Schedule for Success’ when traveling…
Where in the world are you going?
What’s your plan on how to get there?
Do you schedule holidays with your family?
Do you brush your teeth every day?
You probably wash dishes and your clothes every once in a while.
We all sleep daily.
We all make decisions daily.
When we have conversations with others, we probably make some kind of agreements.
When we’ve never done something before, and aren’t sure of our skill set, we will do it any way we can until we realize how we may accomplish it more effectively.
These are all Energy Surges. I realized I used many of these Energy Surges while booking a flight recently. I had a schedule of an upcoming class I am choosing to attend. I have chosen to fly to this destination. In the process, I encountered several challenges that I hadn’t experienced before in booking a flight.
I know this sounds like it “should” be simple right? I thought so too. For whatever reason, this was not simple this time, yet it provided me an experience to realize that I have identified and use the 11 Chi-To-Be! Energy Surges as a conscious every day tool.
I found myself thinking of my Personal Accountability to my finances and getting the most cost-effective flight possible. (Energy Surge #11 Personal Accountability)
As I was challenged throughout the process, I would take mini rest stops, such as breathing deeply and refocusing, getting up from my chair to get a drink of water or just get up and walk or complete a quick household task. (Energy Surge #9. Re-charging my Inner Chi)
When faced with the decision to move to another site or make a call to ask for personal assistance, I used the Solution Process (Energy Surge #10). I chose whether I was in fear or if I was loving myself to either stay with the process or walk away from the project all together. I realized that I was loving myself enough to stay with the project and fulfill my goal and trust that I AM right where I was meant to be.
Thanks for taking a moment now to share how you
